Mobile ECU Remapping in Warwick, We Come to You

Where a car sits during the day is not a small detail in Warwick. A lot of the town is narrow, tightly parked and considerably older than anything parked on it, so the first thing we ask is not what you drive. It is where it will be standing when we get there.

Where the work actually happens

A driveway is ideal. A quiet off street space is fine. What we would rather avoid is a tight spot on a narrow street where the car cannot be worked on without half of it hanging into traffic, because that turns a straightforward job into a nervous one for everybody including the people trying to get past.

Plenty of Warwick jobs end up being done at a workplace rather than at home, particularly on the business parks out towards junction 15 where there is space and the car is standing still for eight hours anyway. If your employer is relaxed about it, that is usually the easiest option of the lot.

If neither works, say so when you ring. Between us we will find somewhere sensible, or you bring it over to the workshop instead. Neither of those is a problem. Discovering it on the day is.

What a visit involves

Everything needed arrives with us. The existing calibration is read off the ECU and saved, the engine is logged, the map is written for that specific vehicle, loaded, and then logged again on the road to confirm it is doing what it was meant to do. There is no drop off, no courtesy car and nothing to collect later.

The road test is part of the job rather than an extra, and in Warwick it is genuinely more useful than most places. A car that spends half its week shuffling round the old streets and the other half sitting on the M40 needs checking in both conditions, because those are two quite different demands on the same file and a map that only suits one of them is not finished.

Most visits take somewhere between one and three hours depending on the vehicle and how the ECU is accessed.

What you need to have ready

A battery in decent health, and it really is the one that matters. Writing to an ECU needs stable voltage throughout, and a tired battery is comfortably the most common reason a job has to be paused. If you already know yours is on its way out, mention it when you book rather than hoping, and we will bring support for it.

Beyond that, the keys, enough fuel to run and road test it, and somewhere it can sit for the duration. That is the whole list. If there is a fault light on the dash, tell us what it is when you ring rather than when we arrive, because occasionally the honest answer is that it needs sorting before a map makes any sense.

If you would rather understand the work itself before booking, the remapping page for Warwick covers it, and the contact page has everything you need to get hold of us.

Twenty two miles, and what that means in practice

Warwick sits around twenty two miles from the workshop on Rugby Road in Lutterworth. That is comfortably inside the area we cover, but it is a planned run rather than something squeezed into a gap, so a bit of notice gets you a better slot and a less rushed job.

It also means it is worth grouping things. If you have been meaning to get a diagnostic look at something as well as a map, or there are two cars at the same address, that is one visit rather than two and it is easier for everyone.

If a mobile visit genuinely does not suit, the Lutterworth workshop is a straightforward run up from Warwick and you are welcome to bring the vehicle in instead. Some jobs are better done that way, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.

Mobile ECU Remapping in Warwick: your questions answered

What does mobile actually mean here?

The complete job happens where your vehicle is parked. Reading and saving the original file, writing the map, loading it and road testing it afterwards, all of it at your address rather than ours. You do not drop the car anywhere, you do not wait in a reception, and you do not lose a day arranging to be somewhere you did not need to be.

Is a mobile remap as good as one done in a workshop?

It is the same equipment, the same process and the same file. The car has no idea what postcode it is standing in. The only genuine exception is an ECU that has to be opened and read directly on a bench, which is a small minority of vehicles, and we will tell you in advance if yours happens to be one rather than discovering it in front of you.

Do you come into the town centre itself?

Yes, though it is worth a conversation first. Some of the older streets simply do not have room to work on a car safely without blocking them, so if that describes where you park we will usually suggest doing it somewhere else nearby, at your workplace, or at the workshop. It is not a refusal, it is just easier to sort out before the day than on it.

Can you come to my work instead of my house?

Often the best option, particularly on the business parks near junction 15 where there is actual space. All we need is somewhere safe to work at the car and whoever runs the site being happy with it. Check that part first, because it is a short conversation for you and an awkward one for us stood in a car park.

How long will you need the car for?

Usually one to three hours depending on the vehicle. That covers reading the original calibration, logging, writing and loading the map and road testing it. You do not need to stand and watch, but you do need the car to stay put for the duration and to be available for the road test at the end.

Do you need power or anything else from me?

No mains power and nothing off your electricity. A healthy battery, the keys, some fuel in it and somewhere it can sit. Everything else is in the van. If the battery is tired, tell us in advance, because writing to an ECU with unstable voltage is the one thing that can genuinely turn a simple job into a complicated one.

What happens if it rains?

Most of the work is done from inside the car through the diagnostic port, so ordinary British weather is not usually an obstacle. If conditions are bad enough that working safely becomes a question, we would rather move the visit than rush it. Nobody benefits from a job done badly because it was raining sideways.

Will you road test it round Warwick?

Yes, and the route matters here. Ideally the test covers both the low speed town driving and a stretch at proper speed, because the two ask different things of the same map. It is part of the job rather than an optional extra, and it happens before the keys come back to you.

What if I change my mind afterwards?

The original calibration is read and saved before anything is written, so the car can be returned to standard. That is true on the day and it is true in two years. People usually want it back when they sell, when a lease ends, or when a dealer wants a factory file in front of them for a warranty conversation.

Can I bring the car to you instead?

Yes. The workshop is on Rugby Road in Lutterworth, which is a straight enough run from Warwick, and some people simply prefer it. Certain jobs are better done there anyway. When you ring, describe the vehicle and what you are after and we will tell you honestly which option makes more sense.

How far do you travel beyond Warwick?

Warwick is well inside the area, at around twenty two miles from the workshop, and we cover the villages around it too. If you are further out and unsure, ring and ask rather than guessing. It is a short conversation and we would far rather give you a straight answer than have you assume either way.

How do I book?

Call or message 07773 694570, or send an enquiry through the contact form. Tell us the vehicle, roughly where in Warwick you are, where it will be parked and what you are hoping the map will do. That is enough for us to tell you whether it is worth doing before anybody commits to anything.
